PROCURADURÍA INVESTIGARÁ INCUMPLIMIENTO DE LEY DE CUOTAS EN LOS MUNICIPIOS

Con base en un informe presentado por el Departamento Administrativo de la Función Pública –DAFP-, la Procuraduría General de la Nación ordenó a las procuradurías regionales y provinciales que investiguen los posibles incumplimientos de la llamada Ley de Cuotas (Ley 581 de 2000) por parte de las entidades territoriales durante los periodos 2009, 2010 y 2011.

Debido a las posibles consecuencias disciplinarias por este incumplimiento, recordamos a los actuales alcaldes la obligación de dar participación efectiva y adecuada a las mujeres en los cargos de mayor jerarquía así como en otros niveles decisorios de la estructura administrativa de sus municipios, asegurando que por lo menos el 30% de estos cargos estén ocupados siempre por ellas.

El incumplimiento de esta obligación constituye causal de mala conducta, que será sancionada con suspensión hasta de treinta (30) días en el ejercicio del cargo, y con la destitución del mismo en caso de persistir en la conducta, de conformidad con el régimen disciplinario vigente.

Recordamos también que los alcaldes deberán preparar un plan municipal de promoción y estímulo a la mujer, que deberán presentar ante el concejo municipal correspondiente, a fin de obtener su aprobación.
