LEY 1558 DE 2012. LOS ALCALDES DEBERÁN CREAR CONSEJOS CONSULTIVOS DE TURISMO

De conformidad con lo dispuesto en el parágrafo 2º del artículo 9º de la Ley 1558 de 2012, la cual modifica en algunos aspectos la Ley General del Turismo (Ley 300 de 1996) y la Ley 1101 de 2006, sancionada por el Gobierno Nacional el pasado martes 10 de julio, “Los gobernadores y los alcaldes propiciarán la creación de consejos departamentales, municipales o distritales de turismo, que cumplirán las mismas funciones del Consejo Consultivo de Turismo en el ámbito de sus competencias territoriales. Dichos Consejos deberán incorporar como mínimo tres representantes de los prestadores de servicios turísticos del Departamento, Distrito o del Municipio, y los demás que se establezcan en el mecanismo de su creación.”

Las funciones del Consejo Consultivo Municipal de la industria turística, de acuerdo con lo consagrado en el citado artículo 9º, serán:

Asesorar al Alcalde en la concepción, definición y formulación de las políticas, programas y proyectos de desarrollo y competitividad del turismo en el municipio.

Promover acuerdos de cooperación económica o técnica internacional a favor del turismo y recomendar las gestiones pertinentes a su obtención.

Recomendar mecanismos que procuren una efectiva y permanente coordinación entre el sector público y el privado a favor del desarrollo y competitividad del turismo.

Analizar el desempeño local, nacional e internacional del sector turismo; realizar actividades de seguimiento, evaluación y análisis del impacto de las políticas, programas y proyectos del Gobierno local en relación con el turismo y presentar recomendaciones para el desarrollo y proyección del sector.

Propiciar el establecimiento, monitoreo y evaluación de indicadores de gestión relativos a las políticas, programas y proyectos del Gobierno local respecto del turismo.

Recomendar estrategias de seguridad turística.

Proponer candidatos a la medalla al mérito turístico, la cual podrá ser creada en el municipio siguiendo los lineamientos del artículo 6º de dicha Ley.
